    • At first it was a complete culture shock haha. It took a little while getting used to that’s for sure. I think the biggest thing for me was adjusting to the food. They don’t carry a lot of things I was used to eating in the states.. no more chobani, or zucchini for me 😦 Thankfully, I’m able to order most things off of VitaCost to keep me happy haha.

  1. Just came across your blog today and really love it! I’m an American married to a man from Kuwait and I’ve lived in Kuwait for almost a decade. If there\’s every anything you might need please feel free to contact me and we\’ll gladly do anything we can to make life a bit easier here in Kuwait.

Not sure if you\’ve discovered it on your own yet, but The Sultan Center super markets are always changing their inventory. What you find one week you might not see again for months. Also, The Sultan Center carries more products from America than other super markets here — also a bit more expensive. They have several locations around Kuwait. I\’ve found the best one to be in Sharq inside the mall.

    Wishing you all the best!

    • Oh wow, thank you so much for taking your time to write this comment. Where are you originally from in the states?

I have noticed that the Sultan center will have something one week, and then not again for a while long. The only place I’ve been able to find any decent yogurt has been @ LuLus. I’m very picky when it comes w/ yogurt, so I’m very grateful they at least carry Activia Vanilla now lol.

Where exactly do you live in Kuwait?

Again, thank you for contacting me. It’s so nice to hear from another American.

  2. Hello Jessie,
Just a quick message to ask if you would be interested in a ‘mutual’ following on twitter. I am currently following you now and am awaiting for your follow-back. (#FYI I do RT’s ‘anytime’ for all #Triathletes #Cyclists #UltraRunners & #Marathoners #FitnessProfessionals who follow me on Twitter and have something ‘important’ they want mentioned…)

All the very best to you and yours for the rest of 2012 and beyond Jessie. Look forward to hearing from you…

  4. Hi Jessie,
I am so glad I found your blog! I am a fellow runner and living in a different country-er. My boyfriend and I are in Vietnam. What brought you and your husband to Kuwait? My better half and I are teaching at an international school. Can’t wait to start being a regular reader!

    • Hi girl, I’m so happy to have you as a new follower. I went to your page, and i LOVE it! It’s so cool to see the differences you’ve guys have faced living in a new country as well. How do you like teaching in Vietnam? My husband was offered a job as a civilian contractor over here on base. So here we are, haha. We’ll most likely be out here for at least 2 more years. What about you and your husband?

      • Have you been there for two years already? We have a two year contract with our school, so we have a year and a half left on that. We may stay longer if some management positions open up. How do you manage to run in Kuwait? Is it relatively safe for you to be out alone?

  5. I love your blog! My husband was deployed to Kuwait for a year but it wasn’t the type of assignment I could go on with him…wish I could have though, it seems like a great adventure! Looking forward to reading more!:)
