Happy Easter & A-Z

Good Morning & Happy Easter weekend to all my fabulous readers! First and foremost, I want to say THANK YOU for all of your kind comments you left on my Thankful Thursday post regarding my link up coming to an end. I can’t even begin to tell you how much they all meant to be, and how thankful I am for each & every one of you.

…and second, since I don’t have an awful lot to say today, I thought I’d fill out and share the A-Z survey that seems to buzzing through blogs these days.

  • A: age: 23 years young.
  • B: bed size: Queen, which for the most part suits Joshua, Roxy (yes she is spoiled and sleeps with us), and I fine. It does get a bit rocky whenever those two decide to sprawl out though like they own the place.
  • C: chore you dislike: I think I mentioned before that I thoroughly enjoy chores, but if I had to choose one that I disliked, it would be cleaning the bathroom toilets.
  • D: dogs: We have a boxer/lab named Roxy. She’s the sweetest thing, yet not the brightest.
  • E: essential to your day: I’m pretty sure air is rather essential if you want to live.
  • F: favorite color: Ya know, now that I’m thinking about it, I’m not quite sure I have a favorite color per say. I do know that most of my clothes are either black, or peach.
  • G: gold or silver: Preferably silver, but if someone else is buying it, they can pick.
  • H: height: 5’1 3/4″.
  • I: interesting fact: When I was younger, my girlfriends and I would squeeze the juice out of gushers to use as lipgloss
  • J: job title: Housewife.
  • K: kids: Working on it.. working on it
  • L: live: Mahboula, Kuwait
  • M: mom’s name: Jan
  • N: nicknames: The only nickname I have is Peaches, which is what my daddy calls me
  • O: overnight hospital stays: Surprisingly done which is mind-boggling since I’ve had quite a few injuries. **knock on wood**
  • P: pet peeves: Bad drivers, people who are late, people who stop right in front of you when walking
  • Q: quote from a movie: Any from Step Brothers, The Other guys, and Talladega Nights
  • R: righty or lefty: Righty. I have always been so jealous of my brother since he’s a lefty.
  • S: sibling: Twin brother, Justin
  • T: time you wake up: Everyday except Fridays I wake up at @ 4AM. Fridays are Joshua’s day off, but I still usually wake up around 5:30.
  • U: underwear: I’m a fan
  • V: vegetables you don’t like: I really am a fan of most, but steamed carrots can either be a hit or miss
  • W: what makes you run late: I’m usually never running late, but if I happen to be it’s because I had to use the restroom one last time.
  • X: xrays you’ve had: Teeth, arms, legs, foot/ankle, knee, shoulder, cat scan, stomach.
  • Y: yummy food you make: Everything I make is yummy! Ha kidding, but no seriously.. I like to think I can make pretty good chicken cordon blu.
  • Z: zoo animal favorite: Kangaroos are cute

and since it’s Easter weekend, I find it very important to remember and acknowledge what this holiday truly is about.

Easter

Easter: is a Christian festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion at Calvary as described in the New Testament. Easter is the culmination of the Passion of Christ, preceded by Lent, a forty-day period of  fasting, prayer, and penance.

“The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name. Luke 24:46-47

Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day. 1 Corinthians 15:3-5″

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him. John 3:16-17”

  • How will you be celebrating Easter this weekend?

Thankful Thursday :: The End

1

Good Morning & Happy Thursday! Today’s post is one that I wasn’t hoping to write anytime soon, but unfortunately I think it’s the best thing to do. Many of you know that I started Thankful Thursday months ago. Unfortunately, the link-up isn’t as active as I was hoping when I first started this campaign.

I didn’t want to have to end it so soon, but I just feel the time has come. So where does that leave it? Well, I will still continue to share things about myself, my family, and just life in general that I’m thankful for, but it will be sporadically throughout the week, not just on one certain day.

No matter the ups & downs you my face in life, I want all of to know that you are loved and beautiful, and that there is always something to be Thankful for! So when your upset or angry at someone or something, just try to remind yourself that things could always be worse. Know that God will never let you suffer, yet he’ll guide you into the right direction <3.

But for today, before I end this link-up, I want to share a couple things I am thankful for in my life today:

  • I’m thankful for my husband; the man who is supportive, caring, driven, honest, and just all around the most amazing person I’ve ever met. I cannot, and refuse to ever live without him. He’s not just my husband, he’s my best friend & life companion
  • I’m thankful for my family; both my parents and Joshua’s. As hard as it was being in the states without Joshua, they never let me feel alone. We shared lots of love, and laughter with one another that will forever be in my heart.
  • I’m thankful for life; I know that sounds a bit cliche, but it’s true. Sure things aren’t always perfect, but what would be the fun in that? I truly do believe you need to experience challenges, and hardships. Those are the things that help mold you into the person you are today. They give you the strength and courage to move on when you don’t think it’s possible. But life isn’t just about challenges, life is about living & having fun! You are the creator of your life, you determine the outcome. So smile, because you know know whose looking your way!

&& that’s all I have for you today! I do hope that many of you will take a day out of the week, whether you post it on your blog, twitter, facebook, etc… to share something your Thankful for.

A Challenge and Awards

Good Morning and Happy Tuesday. I hope your day has started off with joy, happiness & love. If not and you happen to be feeling down for whatever reason @ the moment; know that you are beautiful and deserve nothing but the best in life ❤

Over the past couple weeks I’ve not only been nominated by a few lovely ladies for blog awards, but I’ve also received e-mails from Tribesports, whom I’m a team member for, with workout challenges to share. But, because of life getting in the way (damn you, lol), I just hadn’t had the chance to share any with you. Thankfully things have slowed down tremendously and I can now give them all proper acknowledgement.

First up: Tribesports has put together an awesome workout challenge. It’s called “Al-kavadlo’s-5×5 Beginners Calisthenics Workout”. Not only is this workout very effective, but all you need is your body weight (with an exception of needing a bar to perform the Australian Pull ups).

Second: A big Thank You to Lucie @ Fit Swiss Chick for nominating me for the One Lovely Blog Award, Mallory @ If Gravity Happens for the Liebster Award, and Allison @ A Realistic Life for the Liebster Award as well.

Since I have already shared many random facts with all of you before, I’m just going to answer these ladies questions (minus Lucie’s because this award didn’t have any) instead.

Mallory’s Questions:

  • What’s your favorite movie of all time? I’m not quite sure I have a favorite movie, but any moving revolving Denzel Washington, Will Smith, and Reese Witherspoon are good ones
  • What do you do as soon as you walk in the door after work? Well, I’m currently a stay at home wife, but when I did work, the first thing I’d do was kiss Joshua.
  • Do you put your toothbrush in a drawer or in a toothbrush holder? Drawer. The thought of it just laying in a cabinet disgusts me.
  • What vegetable do you love? Hate? I honestly can’t think of any vegetables I dislike.
  • What is your favorite go-to outfit for a Saturday? It all depends on what’s happening. If were going out; a cute shirt & jeans, but if were staying in, sweatpants & a tank
  • What’s your favorite work out? Before being diagnosed with HA, it was running
  • What does your Tupperware cupboard look like? Organized
  • If you had to chose one thing you could not live without, what would that be? (can not be technology related – made it harder huh!? hehe) My blender
  • What’s your favorite thing to order while eating out? A salad with chicken and loads of vegetables on-top
  • What is the temperature outside when you are the happiest? Eighty-Six sounds pretty good
  • If you could pick anywhere in the world to be right now, where would that be and what would you be doing? I’ve really been wanting to visit Ireland lately. Now if only $$$ grew on trees & I had a private jet to get me there.

Allison’s Questions:

  • What did you do today? Well the day has just started, but so far I’ve brushed my teeth, packed Joshua’s lunch, and kissed him goodbye when he left for work
  • How old do you want to be when you have children? Do you even want children? If you already have kids, how old were you when the first one was born? Currently working on it. Even though this journey has been hard and emotional so far, Joshua & I both know God would never throw a challenge our way that we weren’t able to handle & overcome ❤
  • How long have you been blogging? I believe I started my blog back in May of 2012. Quickly approaching my one year!
  • What is your favorite exercise? See previous question above
  • What is the food you eat most often? I wouldn’t say I eat the same amount of certain foods, but I do eat at least one apple every day.
  • What is the coolest place you have ever been? Tough question. Experiencing the hot springs in Greece this past summer was pretty awesome
  • Who do you look up to the most in the world? My husband.
  • What is your job? Do you enjoy it? Why or why not? I’m currently a stay at home wife, and yes I do enjoy it.
  • Favorite summer-time activity? Before moving to Kuwait, it would have to be attending sporting events… okay I guess that’s really a favorite all year round activity though 🙂
  • What is the best advice you’ve ever received? Hmm. I think my dad telling me at a young age to always put 10% of my paycheck into the savings was pretty smart. Now if only I would have listened way back then when I was a teenager. I’d most likely be rich, Ha!
  • Do you like pickles? Love them!

Geesh, I knew this post would be long but man I didn’t realize it’d be this long. I’ll spare you  some minutes & just end it here 🙂 Have a great day, and I’ll see you tomorrow for What I Ate Wednesday

Marvelous In My Monday

Good Morning all you fabulous people <3. Since it’s Monday, it’s time for another Marvelous In My Monday post. If you aren’t familiar with this campaign, it was started by the beautiful Katie @ Healthy Diva Life. It’s a day where you share all the marvelous happenings in your life, rather that be a weekend recap, new recipe you’ve made/tried, or just something worth mentioning.

MiMMFor my post today, I thought I’d share a new smoothie recipe I created over the weekend. Since coming back to Kuwait from the States and realizing I no longer have access to coconut rum & pineapple juice, I really only had one choice… recreate my own tropical drink to curve any craving I may get. So get ready; close your mouth & try to stop the drool.

…introducing the Tropical Sensation Smoothie

2

Ingredients:

Directions:

  • Blend all ingredients together
  • Top with an additional tbsp of peanut butter

So now that you know how to make it; head to the store, get yourself the ingredients, rush home, turn on some tropical music (maybe even bust out some hula dancing) & whip up this tropical sensation :).

One, Two, or Five

minutes is how long it may take you to read this recap (if you care too that is) of my trip back to the states :). Since I’m such a horrible blogger when it comes to taking photos of pretty much anything, I have very few to share. What can I say, I’d rather live in the moment then think about pictures (hate me, stab me, or shoot me… whatever floats your boat). Anyways, let’s move on shall we (beware, this post will mostly be in bulletins).

Wednesday (Kuwait time)

  • Woke up at my normal time of 4 AM; Joshua had to leave for work, so we said our goodbyes 😦
  • Got all of my meals prepared for my flight home (who wants to spend $$$ on overpriced airport food?? not me!)
  • Flight left around 8:45, had a 8 hour flight to London, 1 1/2 hour layover, and a 9 hr flight home (oh and sat next to the same man the whole trip who wouldn’t let me get in a minute of sleep. Talk about a chatterbox, gr!!) Got into the states around 11:00 pm U.S. time
  • Mom & brother greeted me @ the airport with a sweet welcome home sign. Drove 2 hours home. My parents, brother & I all sat around the kitchen and talked for a couple of hours

Thursday

  • Mom & I went grocery shopping @ Wegman’s around 4AM in the morning. Yup, were crazy, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I mean really, what’s a better idea when neither one of you can sleep?? Plus, it’s extra bonding time
  • Came home, and made ourselves smoothies (I’ve got her hooked :))
  • A little later in the morning, my whole family and I headed out for the day. Ran errands, got pedicures (yup, my dad got one too, he loves them), had an amazing lunch at a new-to-me restaurant, and headed home. Relaxed for a little bit, and well… I can’t remember what else happened.
  • Ended up passing out around 7:30

Friday

Since I wasn’t going to be home for my daddy’s birthday this week, I decided to celebrate it a few days early.

  • In the morning, Justin & I headed to the store to get a few items we needed for our dad’s birthday card.

100_2024 100_2023

  • My dad is a huge outdoors type of man. You know, hunting & fishing. Well, I can’t say I’m anything like that. Okay I lied, I love fishing, but hunting.. nope not my thing. I mean for real, what’s the fun in sitting around, not to mention freezing your butt off in hopes that an animal strolls by? Talk about BORING! However, I have wanted to visit a shooting range (inside of course) for quite sometime, and that’s exactly what he did. The verdict… I’m hooked! We had such an awesome time, and boy was he surprised.

… I never said I was good. It’s all about having fun right??

  • After shooting, we went to a restaurant called Cheddars for lunch. I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderful it was to just relax, and catch up with one another.
  • Once we got home, I went and visited a family friend for a little bit until my mom & I headed to Walmart to pick up ingredients we needed for dinner. We ended up making Sarah’s Dijon Pear Meatloaf Bites. They turned out delicious!
  • Played pool & relaxed
  • Later on while my brother was out with some of our old high school friends, my family & I went back to Wegman’s so I could pick up food (a months worth of Greek yogurt to be exact, and other goodies) to bring back with me to Kuwait. After a good hour & half, we stopped at Sweet Frog for some frozen yogurt. Um… AMAZING! I still can’t believe I only made one frozen yogurt run… but thankfully my selection more than made up for it. I had salted caramel and toasted marshmallow with pie crust crumbs, and chocolate covered coffee beans.

Saturday

  • Woke up around 3:45 in the morning, and did a bit of studying until my mom woke up
  • Spent some time together; went to the gym and walked for a good 20 minutes
  • Came home, mom & I had smoothies for breakfast, and I also made my dad a stack of my maple-cinnamon pancakes
  • Justin & I left around 9:00 and headed to D.C
  • Met up with Caitlin (who is the sweetest and funniest girl, ever) and her boyfriend, Joe, around 1:00 for lunch @ The Hamilton & ended up spending the rest of the evening w/ them (was supposed to meet a couple other lovely ladies, but unfortunately things didn’t work out :()

100_2052 100_2048 100_2046

Sunday

  • Left D.C. around 7:30, got back to our house around 9:30
  • Went and visited Joshua’s Grandma, Aunt, Mom, Step-Dad, and Brother for a few hours
  • Afterwards, headed to Joshua’s Dad and Step-Moms house to spend a couple hours with them as well
  • Ate dinner & then met up with my family at a bar for a few St. Patty’s day drinks
  • Came home, and passed out around 8:00 (My sleep was all messed up throughout this trip)

Monday

  • Gym in the AM for a short 20 minute walk
  • Went to get our taxes done… well attempted too. Because of Joshua’s job, things got complicated and needless to say, we will be filing for an extension until we can figure out the whole tax situation
  • Went to my Mother-Inlaws house, and then we met up with my Sister-Inlaw for lunch and a little shopping afterwards
  • Didn’t do too much later in the day, besides play a few games of pool with my family. I was thinking about going out that evening, but unfortunately the weather had other plans. Lots of ice & snow.. yuck

Tuesday

  • Packed my bags
  • Head to the mall, gander mt & el rodeo for lunch with my family
  • Came back home, and prepped my meals for the airplane ride
  • Said my goodbyes to Justin & my family and I headed to the airport

100_2084 100_2085 100_2086

After a ridiculously long day of traveling (over 24 hours), I finally made it home (after my cab broke my down…) and walked into a clean home, and sweet notes/cards & non-expensive, yet perfect & simple gifts from Joshua (gum, a stuffed camel, single rose, and a water so I didn’t let myself become hydrated)

100_2091

So there you have it, my trip to the states. Some of you may be thinking and wondering why I didn’t spend time with friends, and just family. Well the answer is easy, I didn’t have much time in the states & my family means way more to me than anyone else. I’m not sure when I’ll be back in the states. It could be a year from now, or yearS. We just don’t know. I do know one thing though, I’m already missing sipping downing coconut rum & pineapple 😦

… and now that it’s 2:40 in the morning, I’m going to attempt to sleep. Dang jet lag has me all messed up! Goodnight & have a fabulous day weekend!

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Daddy ❤

March 21st

1

A little girl needs her daddy
To love her with manly charm,
To soothe her when she’s hurt,
And keep her safe from harm.

A girl needs her dad
To show her a man who’s good,
To help her make right choices,
As only a father could.

A woman needs her father
Just to be aware,
He’ll always be there for her
To sustain her and to care.

You’ve been all these things, Dad.
I hope that you can see
How much I treasure you;
You mean everything to me.

**Thank you for making my visit to the states amazing, Daddy! Love, Peaches**
