Tangent Tuesday

Holy cow! Can you believe tomorrow is August 1st! Seriously, I feel like it was just yesterday I was counting down the days until Birthday (July 10th for all of you who maybe wanna send a belated birthday gift :] just kidding!!). The year is flying huh?

Okay moving on. Happy Tangent Tuesday to all of you! Let’s get started…

1. The most wonderful thing EVER happened @ the grocery store yesterday. Since moving to Kuwait, I haven’t been able to find any American Yogurt. Well wouldn’t ya know it, they had some!! It wasn’t my favorite chobani, it was Activia Vanilla. Hey ya gotta work with what your given. You better believe I snatched up three 4-packs.

2. I literally thought I was going to die on my cab ride yesterday. The driver was super speedy & swerving in and out of lanes like we were apart of Mario Kart. If that wasn’t enough to bring tears to my eyes. We were sitting @ a stoplight and the car in front just decided to back right up into us. You would think he’d get out of his car to make sure everything was okay, but nope he just waived & took off.

3. After being here for over 3 months, I finally gave in and figured it was time to clean the windows. Seriously, living in a sandbox makes cleaning the worst! Stupid Sandstorms! (Pictured below: Before, During & After)
4. As excited as I am to watch the U.S Gymnastic Finals tonight, my heart breaks for Jordyn Weiber. I cannot believe she didn’t qualify for All-Around. She is such an unbelievable gymnastic. Bless her heart!
5. I had an awesome workout today at the gym. It consisted of a new circuit that I made up. Unfortunately y’all will have to wait until tomorrow :).
  • Will you be watching the U.S Gymnastic Finals tonight? What about Women’s Soccer?
  • What sort of exercise did you do today?

Good Morning! Hoping everyone had a marvelous weekend! On Saturday I had a marvelous 12 mile run in the morning, followed by some delicious homemade BBQ chicken pizza for dinner. On sunday the hubby and I lounged around all day watching the Olympics. Question: What was everyone’s favorite sport to watch? Ours was U.S Women’s Soccer, Gymnastics, and Basketball. We both really wanted to watch Women’s Beach Volleyball but because of the time difference, it wasn’t coming on until 1 AM. Bummer!

Now onto another week of Marvelous In My Monday. The Beautiful Katie @ Healthy Diva Eats came up with a fabulous idea called “Marvelous In My Mondays” a couple weeks ago.

Every Monday, Katie will be posting something marvelous to start off the week. She is inviting other bloggers to do the same and link up with her. You can share anything positive–a great new recipe, a new fitness routine, a favorite quote, what your grateful for, something fun that happened over the weekend, etc…The idea is to start off the week in a positive way! Today I want to share who I’m Thankful For.

My Husband. Through all the trials we have faced, he’s always remained by my side, no matter what. I love that we continue to learn new things about each other even after all of these years. He’s not only my husband, but he’s my best friend. He’s my knight in shining armor. He’s the reason I wake up every morning with a smile on my face.  The love we share continues to grow stronger each day. I love the way he inspires me. The way he has made me believe in myself. I genuinely enjoy every moment we share together, even if that means when we’re fighting. I believe they have only strengthened our marriage. He’s blessed me with such a wonderful and loving life. He’s the sweetest and most caring man I’ve ever met. I don’t know where the future will take us. Where we’ll be in a year from now, what jobs we may or may not have, the number of children we’ll have,  but there is one thing I do know. I know that no matter what, life couldn’t be more perfect, and I’ll be even more in love than I am now. For that, I am thankful.

  • What are you Thankful for today?
  • Anything fun happen over the weekend?

I may just scream…

I’ve been searching and searching for the Olympics on tv, and have only found one station that is airing it, and I can’t understand a word they are saying. Here’s to hoping that as the day goes on, another station will be airing it in English!!

Phew, glad I got that off my chest! How’s everyones Saturday going? Any big “Olympic Parties” going on this weekend? Not too much is happening on my end today, but I do have a couple things to share with you today so let’s get started 🙂

The Awesome & Beautiful Paige @ Your Trainer Page shared a new and fun survey yesterday. It’s a “This or That” game revolved around Fitness & Health.

This or That?

1. Run/workout in the heat and humidity or freezing temps and snow? Even though from time to time I’ll complain of the heat, I’d pick running in the heat & humidity over the freezing temps & snow anyday. I”m awful and such a baby when it comes to cold weather.

2. Have washboard abs or flat abs? Flat Abs

3. Dr. Oz or The Doctors? Absolutely love Dr. Oz!

4. Cardio or strength? Cardio all the way. Don’t get me wrong, I still do strength train a couple times a week, but my love has and always will be w/ running.

5. Cravings: Protein or carbs? Eh tough call. I usually crave them both equally.

6. Jillian Michaels or Bob Harper? If I was into Bob Harper, I’m sure my answer would absolutely be Bob Harper. But because I’m not, Jillian Michaels. I have yet to try a DVD of yours that I dislike.

7. Frozen Yogurt or Ice Cream? My stomach doesn’t allow me to eat Ice cream, so Frozen Yogurt it is 🙂

8. To train: Upper body or Lower body? I’m equal on this one.

9. Protein powder or food with protein? I love my Protein Smoothies!

10. Lunges or squats? Squats!! Squats are actually one of, if not my favorite exercise!!

11. Sweet or salty? Sweettt!! Give me some of that chocolate, or a yummy cupcake 🙂

12. Workout attire: cute or comfy? Both. Who says your outfits can’t be both cute & comfy. However, whenever I’m out on a run early in the AM I probably don’t match one bit. In all seriousness though, who do I have to impress 🙂

13. Body Pump or Heavy lifting? Body Pump

14. Yoga or Pilates? Pilates. I have tried & tried to enjoy Yoga, but it just doesn’t do it for me. Not sure if it’s because I’m such a “go-go” person, and not good with relaxing??

15. Nike or Adidas? Nike.. but I really am an asics girl all the way 🙂

16. Running on the treadmill or outdoors? Outside! Oh how I miss you United States. Kuwait why must you be so hot!!

17. Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s? Trader Joe’s!!

18. Summer or Winter Olympics? Summer!! Love watching Gymnastics, beach volleyball, soccer!!

19. Exercises classes or Exercise videos? Not really into either, but if I had to pick.. Exercise Videos.

20. Steamed veggies or roasted veggies? Love me some roasted veggies, delicious!!

I’d love to hear some of your answers, so feel free to leave a comment 🙂 Also, first & foremost I want to say Thank you to the Lovely Alex @ The Run Within for nominating me for the Liebster Blog Award.

The point of this IMO, is to award a blogger who has less than 200 followers and let them know that you enjoy their blog! With all of the wonderful blogs out there, it’s easy to get lost in the crowd, so letting someone know that their blog is worth reading is a great way to build them up.

The rules of the Liebster Blog goes as follows: 1) Paste icon onto blog post 2) Nominate 5 blogs that have less than 200 followers and 3) let them know in a comment

Claire @ Let’s Go on a Living Spree

Carol @ Lucky Zucca

Chelsa @ Paces. Races. Happy Faces

Kristi @ Sweetly Fit

Alyssa @ Peanut Butter and Oatmeal

Okay, now it’s time to get some laundry & dishes done and wait for the hubs to return home from work. Have a great weekend 🙂

Today Is A Good Day

Man, did I have the Most Amazing Protein Smoothie for breakfast today. I can hardly wait to share the recipe with you guys. But first thing is first…

I want to backtrack to yesterdays workout. After a 5.4 (yes that extra .4 of a mile has to be added in, haha) mile run, I ended my workout with a new-to-me circuit created by the wonderful Suzanne @ FitMindedMom.

I actually only completed the circuit 1x through, but please do not let those 2 minutes of jump roping fool you. They are tough, and will work up a serious sweat quick. I highly recommend this circuit to all of you to try out :).

Now on to today… Like I mentioned before on my last blog, Friday’s are a bit different because of the gym not being open. I went to bed unsure of what I’d be doing in the morning as a workout. Would I do some sort of circuit, or go for a walk on the treadmill. Well when the hubs alarm clock went off this morning @ 4:30, I was oddly wide awake & decided to get in some exercise.

Workout: Instead of completing any circuits, I opted for a walk. I ended up covering a little over 9 miles in 2 hours. I know it’s a long time of walking, but I got completely side tracked while reading the hubs Sports Illustrated Magazine and then part of my Women’s Health Magazine. I love my days off from running that include walking. The only downfall to today’s walk was how hot it was in the building. My shirt was disgustingly soaked @ the end.. I’m sure y’all didn’t care to hear that 🙂

Breakfast: Ah, I have been so excited to share today’s meal with you. Last night another VitaCost package arrived. I’m kinda thinking I may have a slight addiction with ordering food. I can’t help it, and it’s also needed since no grocery stores here in Kuwait have any of the foods that I’m used too and love so much. Anyways, I bought two new-to-me Protein Powders. One Milk Chocolate and the Other Vanilla. I decided to use the Milk Chocolate Powder in this mornings Breakfast…

In The Mix:

1 scoop MyoFusion Probiotic Milk Chocolate Protein Powder. 1 Banana. 8 Almond Milk Ice Cubes. & topped with crumbled Barbara’s Puffin Original Cereal

Seriously guys, this smoothie was honestly the best one I’ve ever had, and that says a lot (Okay, I may have said that before.. but I promise this one is even better 🙂 ). I’m also obsessed with this Protein Powder already. I was originally going to do a review of the Product, but I’m going to make some yummy recipes with it before I do (so be on the look out 🙂 ).

**Not too much happened between breakfast & lunch besides a grocery store run & 2 eaten clementines (un-pictured.. I think y’all know what they look like).**

Lunch: Since I’m currently working on upping my calorie intake and putting on weights, I’ve been eating lots of eggs for added protein throughout the day.

In the Mix:

1 Pesto & Garlic Wrap, 2 eggs, 1 light garlic Laughing Cow Wedge, tomatoes & cucumbers + grapes

Mmm.. it was delicious, and so filling. Have you guys ever had Tumaris Gourmet Tortillas? The Pesto & Garlic flavor is so good, like so good you should run out to the grocery store now and find them!! You won’t be dissappointed, I promise :).

Randomness: Can you guys believe it’s Friday already? I honestly feel like this week just started.. not like I’m complaining one bit.   Oh, and did y’all hear about Kristen Stewart Cheating on Robert Pattinson. Seriously, did she not think she’d be caught? Hello sweetie, you are a celebrity… your whole life is public!

Before I go, are y’all super excited for the Summer Olympics to begin? I cannot wait.. let’s just hope they air them on TV here in Kuwait! I wouldn’t see why not, but who knowsss!! **Hope y’all have a GREAT weekend!!**

A new beginning…

Welcome to my new site :). I was orginally using “blogger” with google, until I came across “wordpress”. To me, wordpress has much more to offer. I love that I can customize my page to how I want and be able to add different tabs up top, such as; recipes, races, workouts, etc.. So anyways, let’s get on with today.

I want to thank all of you for the wonderful input ya’ll gave in regards to the shoes. I am happy to say that I picked #2, and they should be here within 5-7 days :). It’s crazy to think, but if someone would of asked me 4 yrs ago what sort of gifts or packages make me happy… fitness items and food definitely wouldn’t of been on my mind. I couldn’t imagine a life without those two. I’m not saying I was ever unhealthy, or unactive growing up, but I’m at such a different level these days. I love the way running makes me feel, and the “high” it gives you, and I love how refreshing eating a bowl of fruit is compared to a candy bar. I will never understand how someone can sit there and complain about being overweight but yet do nothing about it. You hear the same excuses time after time, “Eating healthy is too expensive or I just don’t have enough time in my day”. My heart breaks for those individuals and hope that one day they’ll want to change their way of life. Not only for themselves, but for their family.

Okay before I continue to blab, let’s move on. Guess what guys!! The hubs ended up finding a great deal on a new laptop yesterday. I’m happy to say, we are now proud owners of a brand new Toshiba Computer 🙂 Between new shoes, new computer, and awesome workouts.. this week is turning out to be a great one!

I know it’s WIAW, but unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures of the eats yesterday. Instead, I’m going to end today with a killer workout for yall to try out.

Repeat for a total of 3x

….also, please bare with me while I continue to customize this lovely blog 🙂 I’m hoping to have a “Workout Log” tab up top before the day is over.

**If you have any other good circuits, I’d love to know!!

**Do you like this layout better than my previous?
